Face painting is a popular and captivating art form enjoyed by people of all ages. As a consumer, it's important to be aware of the sanitary practices followed by professional face painters to ensure a safe and hygienic experience. In this blog post, we will discuss the measures taken by face painters to maintain cleanliness and prioritize your well-being.
- High-Quality and Skin-Safe Materials: Professional face painters understand the significance of using high-quality, skin-safe materials. Here's what you should know:
a. Face Paints: Reputable face painters use professional-grade face paints that are specifically formulated for skin use. These paints adhere to industry standards, ensuring they are safe and non-toxic. They are carefully selected to minimize the risk of allergic reactions or skin irritations.
b. Brushes and Applicators: Professional face painters use clean brushes and applicators for each client. They invest in quality brushes that are easy to sanitize, such as synthetic bristle brushes. These brushes are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between uses to prevent cross-contamination.
c. Sponges: Professional face painters use high-quality cosmetic sponges that are latex-free and fragrance-free. These sponges are replaced regularly, and separate sponges are used for different colors to prevent any transfer of bacteria or allergens.
- Strict Personal Hygiene: Maintaining personal hygiene is a fundamental aspect of professional face painting. Here's how face painters prioritize cleanliness:
a. Hand Hygiene: Professional face painters consistently practice proper hand hygiene. They wash their hands with soap and water before and after each face painting session. In instances where handwashing facilities are not readily available, they use hand sanitizers containing at least 60% alcohol.
b. Health and Wellness: Face painters prioritize your well-being by ensuring they are in good health before engaging in any face painting activities. If a face painter is unwell or experiencing any contagious conditions, they will refrain from providing their services to prevent the spread of germs.
c. Hair Restraint: To maintain a clean environment, professional face painters tie back their hair or use hairnets to prevent any contact between their hair and the face paints or clients' faces.
- Rigorous Equipment Sanitization: Professional face painters follow stringent practices to clean and sanitize their equipment. Here's what you can expect:
a. Brushes and Applicators: After each use, professional face painters meticulously clean their brushes and applicators using mild soap and water. They ensure thorough rinsing. Additionally, they may use brush cleaners specifically designed for face painting brushes to enhance the sanitization process.
b. Sponges: Reusable sponges used by professional face painters are washed with hot soapy water, rinsed thoroughly, and dried completely before reuse. Alternatively, they may opt for disposable sponges or use a fresh section of the sponge for each client to maintain hygiene standards, often keeping a "Clean sponge" container and a "dirty sponge" container, not cross-contaminationg.
c. Paint Containers and Palettes: Professional face painters regularly clean and disinfect their paint containers, palettes, and other storage compartments to prevent cross-contamination. They are vigilant about not double-dipping brushes or sponges into the paint to ensure the prevention of germ transmission. ( Side Note-- I had a question from someone about double-dipping, and we as a company that also has a facepaint business try to use a new brush if we need to dip again, We know it is time consuming, but we also never use the same brush or sponge on more than one face. Our advice it to try to load your brush really well so you only need to load once. Have multiples of the same size brush so you can use a new one if you have to reload. Never double-dip a sponge or brush if you can help it. Our small one-strokes are 10g and are great because they need to be re-filled with fresh paint more often, less chance of bacterial build-up over time.)
As a consumer, it's crucial to be informed about the sanitary practices implemented by professional face painters. By understanding their commitment to cleanliness, you can confidently enjoy a safe and hygienic face painting experience. Professional face painters prioritize high-quality materials, adhere to strict personal hygiene, and diligently sanitize their equipment to provide you with an enjoyable and sanitary service.
